一條來到神面前的路

希伯來書 12:18-24
「你們原不是來到那能摸的山；此山有火焰、密雲、黑暗、暴風 … 你們乃是來到錫安山、永生神的城邑，就是天上的耶路撒冷。」 - 來 12:18-22

在舊約聖經中，百姓面對神時感到驚惶和畏懼，是常見的事。例如，出埃及記20:18-19說：「眾百姓見雷轟、閃電、角聲、山上冒煙，就都發顫，遠遠地站立，對摩西說：『求你和我們說話，我們必聽，不要神和我們說話，恐怕我們死亡。』」百姓害怕，因為他們知道自己是罪惡的，而神卻是聖潔和可畏的，祂的能力超過我們的想像力。

希伯來書有助於解釋耶穌為我們受死的重要性。以色列民因與神隔絕感到非常害怕，當耶穌死在十字架上時，祂也同樣經歷與神隔絕。藉著為我們償還罪債和使我們與神和好，耶穌衝破了永遠的黑暗，我們面對神時不必再感到害怕，因為我們可以藉著神所愛並接納的基督來到神的面前。

希伯來書力勸我們，任何時候都應該來到神面前。藉著耶穌，神邀請每一個人 — 無論他們在怎樣的景況或境遇中 — 都可以來到祂那裏。神愛我們每一個人，祂已經準備好賜恩典給所有藉著祂兒子信靠祂的人了。

20因為他們當不起所命他們的話說：「靠近這山的，即便是走獸，也要用石頭打死。」
21所見的極其可怕，甚至摩西說：「我甚是恐懼戰兢。」
22你們乃是來到錫安山，永生神的城邑，就是天上的耶路撒冷；那裡有千萬的天使，
23有名錄在天上諸長子之會所共聚的總會，有審判眾人的神和被成全之義人的靈魂，
24並新約的中保耶穌以及所灑的血。這血所說的比亞伯的血所說的更美。

Hebrews 12:18-24
"You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm. . . . But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem." - Hebrews 12:18-22

In the Old Testament, it was not unusual for people to be terrified and in awe of God’s presence. For example, in Exodus 20:18-19, “when the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, ‘Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.’” The people were afraid because they knew they were sinful and that God is holy and awesome, with power beyond imagining.

The book of Hebrews helps to explain the significance of Jesus’ death for our sake. When Jesus died on the cross, he experienced the same separation from God that so terrified Israel. By paying for our sins and reconciling us to God, Jesus cut through that darkness forever. The terror of being in God’s presence is no longer there because we can approach God through Christ, the one he loves and accepts.

Hebrews urges us to approach God at any time. Through Jesus, God made himself accessible to all people, regardless of their situations or circumstances. God loves us all, and he is ready to give grace to anyone who comes to faith through his Son.

Prayer

Father in heaven, thank you for providing the way for us to come to you—through Christ, the one and only Savior. Help us to live for you always. In Jesus, Amen.
